Leh, Ladakh…one of the reason to attract so many tourists is their culture & Spiritualism. There are so many monasteries in and around leh that you might need at least couple of weeks to visit those places & know more about budism.. The Friendly monks are the one’s who are asked to pose for picture, often the subject which most tourist want to capture & also those monasteries on the cliff…lights flowing into those small path ways constructed with stones, those high stair cases packed like sandwich in between the path ways… its such a feast to watch them…

The below pictures are some memories which i brought along with me from leh… after the flash flood tragedy i hated god …questioned him whether those loving inhabitants who always welcome tourists like guests deserve this ? but he told me worst would have happened but he could restrict so that minimal damage is caused…but then my anger was short lived for he is wise to make a better judgement than other’s thats y he is called god..

With a prayer for those who lost their lives in the tragedy with a hope in my heart that leh will spring back to normal life ..this is just a small dedication to the wonderful place called leh… the land of gods n heaven on earth…

Its every photographer & Hiker’s dream to visit the place to capture those wonderful landscapes..This was my most adventurous & memorable travel till date…With My Fellow traveler’s &  photographer’s Mayur, Vinay & Akshath..

Before i begin my series of landscapes in and around ladakh.. just some candid moments of my fellow travelers during our travel & some abstracts..some how i am obsessed with people in my pictures…’cas we all try to capture the nature but some how forget about us…hope you all like them…

Some Abstracts…

Learning is a continuous process… There is no stopping or End to it.  I still feel as a photographer there are lots of things still i need to learn. Portraits & People are my forte … but i also found my new love for still life. when i am not doing my forte i am on to still life… its just a special goggles i wear to see simple things in a different way.. or i rather try to make a simple image special. In this post i have exhaustively used warm temperature in most of the picture to get a dramatic feel. Also my low aperture setting gives a feel of three dimensional effect.

Try this when you get time..any simple things around you just take a shot & post process them to make it special. Its a way to learn great shooting opportunities where ever you are..don’t have to  wait for any special moment or time to take pictures. It’s also learning to shoot & compose subjects.  Will see the response to this post, if the number is good or not.

I am planning for a half day still life & macro workshop soon, for beginners in photography. Kouser finished her school and recently joined college to do her bachelors in business management. She wanted some fun yet classy, simple yet gorgeous… pictures that shows her personality. well just did a one hour shoot, no make up or costume change.. Just herself … some out doors , some indoors … some off camera lights & some natural sun lit.

It was a odd time in the day i choose for this shoot… The sun was very bright & the skin was bit difficult to meter. Yet wanted to do this … As they say a photographer can turn a day into night & night into day…

It was a such a fun shoot, this took me back to my college days when i really wanted some pictures of mine but we dint have this flexibility. One of my major motive is to make photography.. not just photography… good photography available for masses.

So i have come up with mini photo shoots especially for college students, which is also lighter on the pocket for them and at the same time quality pictures. So if you know any college students who want their pictures you can refer me…

I Also Welcome themed photo shoots where in if you have a theme on mind, in which you want your pictures on those lines it can be discussed and can be worked out. Especially college students are so much creative these days & they always love to have things different.

As we step in to the new year we expect better things to happen in our life…what a great start to this year with a awesome wedding shoot & Couple of NGO projects  so far. As a photographer i always wanted to give back to the  society some thing useful. With Photography & couple of NGOs ensures my work makes difference as well my personel satisfaction too. Balasangama 2010 is one such wonderful event that opens doors to showcase the talents of the under privileged children at various government schools.

Keshava Seva Samithi an NGO which works towards the development of woman, children education & health. They organize this event Balasangama every year… What a talent.. you gota attend this if you want to know how much talent these kids have.

Whole event was like a festival to the children who participated. Every one show cased their talent & they did not care about the hot scorching sun. This concept of having a two day talent fest for the under privileged children was wonderfully organised & co ordinated by all the Keshava Seva Samithi , also coordinators from Youth for Seva.

Also Thank the Sponsors who made this event a grand success.

This year i could not cover the whole event as my day job took most of my time…These images are from the second day, the cultural events.

This is my last in Series photo shoot for Ruhi + Rohith – OutDoor which i did along with my friend. This post is gona be bit different, when i say different i am  gona write about an important aspect in photography…. . Its called Composition, also about why i choose this way to shoot.

So what is composition ? well its just the way we arrange the subject in the frame of the picture. Why is it so important ? yes its important because it adds to the esthetics of the picture…so what ? well there are so many photographers , owning  a digital camera or SLR is very affordable, every one takes pictures but… above all how different is your picture from others is the question here… Hope you get the point which i am trying to make here…

Shooting people is one of the challenging aspect in photography…it should not be the same like every other picture at the same time, while shooting a couple it should show the connection between them.

How can i achieve that attractive composition…? well there are various ways. Posing the subject…Integration of the surroundings with the subject, Using aperture & shutter to achieve a different look, Negative space etc…

This picture has an integration with the Sky & the stairs along with the couple. More over the plain sky & stairs gives a new dimension to the picture.

While Taking portraits, i have included the Walls , which is of Blue texture adds some lovely contrast

Taking a picture doesn’t only mean to always include the person to pose but a Composition like below adds a abstract concept to the picture taking.

Using the Aperture to our advantage…as well positioning the couple. Try out different posing technique than the conventional one’s.

Shooting from different angle… gives some life to the picture, makes it look different…

When shooting couple’s showing the Connection between them is very important…

Weddings hold great importance in a one’s life. As they are the sacred & sanctified events they are taken very seriously. The sanctity of the weddings in India is maintained through the rituals and traditions that are followed during the weddings. The Indian Wedding Traditions are performed with great seriousness, but these also add charm and elegance to the weddings. The Indian Wedding Traditions usually consist of rituals and ceremonies that are entertaining and thus make the wedding really enjoyable.

The Indian Wedding Traditions  add to the charm and glamour of the wedding. They help keep both the Bride & Groom’s side also guests entertained and thus transform the event into a celebration of sorts. These traditions have been followed for years together and usually accompanied by music, dance and enthusiasm above all Pujas & prayers as the scared knot is tied thus establishing the bond of husband & wife. As the couple begin their married life with all the blessings from the family & friends.

The Indian weddings are bright & colorful. Ritual & Traditional…

My Hearty congratulations to the couple Ruhi & Rohith… What a wonderful wedding it was. Whole Wedding was memorable with the families picking & choosing every detail for the event so perfectly & so well co ordinated.

Weddings in India are considered to be a sacred ritual. They are long ritualistic and elaborate affair with lots of pre-wedding, wedding, post wedding ritual. The occasion of Mehendi is one of the most important pre-wedding rituals. It is a fun filled ritual, which is celebrated mainly by the bride’s family. Different regions of the country celebrate the ritual in a different way according to their own marriage customs, rituals, and culture. The bride’s family celebrates Mehendi party for gathering bride’s friends and relatives for blessing the bride.

I happend to be a part of one of the best wedding i have attended so far,  Ruhi & Rohith the couple in the company of their wonderful parents , siblings & relatives with my Friend’s/Photographer’s sowmya & abhi.
